From a newsreel: 1938
The narrator says this swing festival took place in Chicago in 1938 with 200,000 in attendance. I lived most of my life in the Chicago area and I never heard of this event. The opening scene at least is Soldier Field as it was at that time but as far as i know the biggest crowd for anything at Soldier Field is the 104,000 that attended the second Jack Dempsey, Gene Tunney heavyweight championship fight in 1927. Has anybody watching this clip ever heard of this event.
