From the documentary: THE BUDDY DEAN SHOW 1950’s & 60’s
Buddy Dean had a hugely popular TV teen dance show in Baltimore from 1957 to 1964 and is said to have been the inspiration for the 1988 movie “Hairspray”. Less that ten minutes of original footage has survived however some of the crew took 8mm home movies of the show and that’s what you’ll see here. Most of the dance scenes can be seen starting at about the 1:25 mark.
Reminds me of the movie Hairspray haha… The *Corny Collins Show*!
I borrowed a few of your vids to make this vid. Vintage videos with Little Richard knocking out "Tutti Frutti". I found the song on Youtube, live performance. Some of your vids are sharpened…..Mike
It's very rare to see these legendary performers in color from the 1950's. Love this video especially the part with Bill Haley and his Comets since they're the reason why I enjoy 1950's rock and roll since they're the first ones I ever heard playing it. Long live rock and roll!
It was an honor to narrate this special.
0:21 sounds like the beginning to “good morning baltimore” from hairspray
My brother and i once were on the Buddy Deane Show. I think it was our first date !
